We presented “Gatling - Tales From A Journey” at the UKSTAR 2017 in London and it was great experience. The organization was perfect, the location breath-taking and the effort to “meet the speakers” was awesome:
Q: How did you get started in software testing?
After a company merger, many moons ago, I was the junior software developer without any tasks. I was assigned to software testing instead of being made redundant. I tried to make the best of it and wrote a C++ regression test framework, which even turned out to be useful. While being back to full-time software development I still tinker with test frameworks & utilities to help our QA team.
Q: Who inspires you?
On a professional level – the unsung heroes 😀
One who does great deeds but receives little or no recognition for them: mentoring/teaching young(er) colleagues. Having the opportunity to speak at UKSTAR actually goes back to a QA consultant (Harry Sneed) asking and helping me to apply for my very first conference, the EuroSTAR 2000 in Copenhagen.
Q:What do you see for the future of software testing?
Breaking the silos – testers doing more software development, software developers doing more testing. All of them improving end-user experience.
